Staying At The Postmark Hotel In Newmarket
The Postmark Hotel is a beautiful boutique hotel in Newmarket, Ontario. If you’re looking for places to stay in Newmarket, I highly recommend The Postmark Hotel. I share more about my experience staying there below.
The Postmark Hotel is actually the old post office that has been converted into a boutique hotel. You’ll notice a nod to all things ‘postal’ throughout the hotel like stamp and letter-themed art in the rooms and hallways.
The location of this hotel is perfect. It’s right on the trendy main street of Newmarket next to live music pubs, great coffee shops and unique local shops. It has everything you need within walking distance which makes a stay here incredibly convenient and relaxing because you don’t have to worry about traffic or parking.
When you first walk into the lobby, you’ll be greeted by friendly staff at the check-in desk. Depending on what time of day you’re checking in, the check-in desk is right next to the beautifully designed bar and lobby restaurant. I couldn’t help but notice the upbeat vibe and the incredible energy of the space.
If you have a thing for beautiful and aesthetically designed spaces, the lobby and main floor restaurant area will check all the boxes for you. From the original art by local artists, the unique lighting, funky chairs and area rugs, large windows and tall ceilings – it’s the perfect mix of comforting home-like vibes with design elements that will make your heart happy.
After you check-in and head to the elevators, you’ll notice a modern shiny floor to ceiling art installation. This piece is called ‘You’ve Got Mail’ by a group of artists from Studio Kimiis. It’s meant to represent an envelope in 3D form. It’s quite an interesting and beautiful piece of art and I appreciate how much they incorporating the postal theme throughout the space, including in this piece of art.
The room we got had a modern red couch, unique light fixtures, a table and chairs, kitchen area and large bathroom.
A few things that stood out to be in the room are:
- The kitchen and mini bar area included plates and cutlery. This was a welcomed detail because I often have to call the front desk to get a fork.
- The mini bar included products from local Canadian businesses like Canadian candy store, BonBon Candy, and Canadian chocolate brand, Awake Chocolate. Obviously I was thrilled with the support of these local shops.
- The hair dryer was actually a good ceramic hair dryer not a cheap one that your hair easily get caught in. If you know, you know.
- Super tall ceilings and large windows that let lots of light in.
A few other things to note about the hotel and its amenities:
- I already mentioned the cool vibe of the lobby restaurant and bar area so make sure you check that out.
- There is a lounge area on the first floor that’s actually a pretty neat space. I could see this being a fun spot to gather if you’re staying at the hotel with a group, you want a change of scenery for happy hour, or there’s an important game on. They have a pool table in this space, a large TV, lots of couches to lounge on, a wall fireplace, and best of all – a record player.
Yes, there is a gym at The Postmark Hotel. It’s not a huge gym but it does have everything you need to get a good sweat. There’s a rack of free weights and kettlebells, treadmill, elliptical, and two bikes. There’s also a mat and bench for doing weights or other exercises. There’s a water fountain in the gym and towels. The gym is open 24 hours by room key access.
